Accelerated TMS on Long Island

A faster path forward from depression.

Precision-guided, non-invasive brain stimulation—delivered in an intensive 1–5 day treatment plan for eligible patients.

1–5 days

Intensive treatment course

Multiple sessions

Carefully spaced each day

Care led by Dr. Adarsh Gupta

Precision treatment in a dedicated neuromodulation setting

Accelerated TMS compresses weeks of treatment into days. Brief theta-burst sessions are repeated at planned intervals to engage mood-regulating brain networks—without medication entering the bloodstream.
A new treatment timeline

More treatment in less time—without putting life on hold.

Accelerated protocols may be valuable when depression has not improved sufficiently with medication or psychotherapy, or when a multi-week schedule is difficult.

Traditional TMS

Several weeks

Usually one session each weekday over a longer course.

Accelerated TMS

1–5 treatment days*

Multiple brief sessions per day, separated by planned rest intervals.

What to Expect During Treatment

Step 1: Comprehensive Consultation

Every patient's journey begins with a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation. Dr. Gupta will review your medical history, previous treatments, symptoms, and determine whether Accelerated TMS is the right option for you.

If appropriate, advanced brain mapping and neuronavigation techniques may be used to precisely identify the treatment target unique to your brain anatomy.

Step 2: Five Days of Accelerated Treatment

Treatment is completed over five consecutive days.

Each day includes several brief Theta Burst Stimulation sessions separated by comfortable rest periods. During these breaks, patients are welcome to relax, read, work remotely, or simply unwind in our office.

The treatments themselves are painless for most patients and require no downtime.

Step 3: Progress Monitoring

Throughout the week, our clinical team closely monitors your progress using validated depression rating scales.

Many patients begin noticing improvements in mood, energy, motivation, or mental clarity during the treatment week, although every individual's experience is unique.

Step 4: Follow-Up Care

Your care doesn't end after Friday.

Over the following weeks, we'll continue monitoring your progress and provide ongoing support to help maximize long-term treatment success.

A calm outpatient experience

Awake, comfortable, and supported throughout treatment.

You sit comfortably while the TMS coil delivers brief magnetic pulses. A trained team member remains nearby, and you can return to normal activities after each treatment day unless advised otherwise.

Precision psychiatry

More information can mean a more individualized plan.

When clinically appropriate, Dr. Gupta may combine imaging and physiologic data with your history and symptoms. These assessments support clinical judgment; they do not independently diagnose depression or guarantee a treatment response.

MRI-guided neuronavigation

Maps the treatment target and helps reproduce coil placement accurately.

qEEG brain-wave assessment

May add information about brain electrical activity and network patterns.

fNIRS functional imaging

May help assess changes in frontal brain oxygenation during cognitive activity.

Why Sleep, TMS & Wellness

Advanced technology. Experienced clinical judgment. Human care.

Your care is led by Dr. Adarsh K. Gupta, a Harvard-trained neuropsychiatrist board-certified in psychiatry, neuropsychiatry, sleep medicine, and psychosomatic medicine.

Research foundation

Built on a major shift in depression care.

Accelerated TMS is supported by growing clinical evidence demonstrating its potential effectiveness for treatment-resistant depression.

Stanford SAINT Trial (American Journal of Psychiatry) Read the Full Study via AJP

Researchers reported remission rates of up to 79% among carefully selected participants with treatment-resistant depression using the Stanford Accelerated Intelligent Neuromodulation Therapy (SAINT) protocol.*

Research has shown that many patients who respond to Accelerated TMS maintain clinical improvement with appropriate follow-up care.*

Frequently Asked Questions

Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) is FDA-cleared for the treatment of Major Depressive Disorder in appropriate patients. Dr. Gupta will discuss whether Accelerated TMS is appropriate for your individual condition.

Most patients describe the treatment as a gentle tapping sensation on the scalp.

The most common side effect is mild scalp discomfort or headache during the first few sessions, which typically resolves quickly.

No.

Unlike antidepressant medications, TMS does not typically cause side effects such as weight gain, sexual dysfunction, or daytime drowsiness because it does not circulate through the bloodstream.
